The first research into the topic based on references from the city
De INDENSTEEN
For Hasselt in particular there is a story about the Zuivelmarkt and the house De dry Dragonders, which is on the corner of botermarkt and zuivelmarkt (where now the Ellis gourmet burgers is)
Apparently here there is a story that during the Sabbath nights the witches would gather there nearby in the form of black cats. Near the house there was a circle of linden trees (which has medicinal capacities) whose branches were by man turned into a certain woven pattern, in between the linden trees there was compost heaps. Since the Zuivelmarkt (dairy market) also at the time was the marketplace and also was the place where the ‘fish stone’ was de IndenSteen (so the central place of the fish market), probably the cats would go there for food.
You can find some information on it, but not more then I tell here on this website of the city which gathers historical stories and information;
https://www.hasel.be/de-dry-dragonders-botermarkt-28-uit-hasselt-intra-muros-1989
The book Hasselt intramuros I have it also, can put in the readingroom (it’s page 208)
About the Indensteen (this was the stone where the fish was approved for sale by the ‘keurmeester’

It is now at the Stadsmus garden (so the citymuseum) and used to be placed in the beguinage as you can see here in an old picture

Where you can also see a picture of the now gone church which I showed earlier.
when it was in the beguinage, the neighbours told stories about the fact that this stone was connected to witchcraft rituals
De PERRON
Near the Dry dragonders also there was the ‘perron’ which was a sort of pole that showed the ruling powers and was a place where jurisdiction took place (so also the gallow or place for executions was there). The current version of this perron is at the old city mall.
https://www.hasel.be/perron
There is no historical record of witches burning that happened there, although there is a mention of all the executions and a mentioning that at some point in 15th c. 10 women were thrown in the river (probably witches) since this was a common technique to execute witches.
Then there is a book on witches from the 1950s which gathers folklore tales including some stories on witches, but also on the bokkenrijders, dwaallichtjes and other stories common to the area.

HASSELTSE HEKSENFEESTEN
And finally this is more anecdotical there were the ‘heksenfeesten’ witches feasts which happened from the 1970s to 2000s and which was a neighbourhood party in de Banneuxwijk that gathered all kinds of folklores, carnivals and there they had 4 witches that were each year central figures which you can see a picture of here, they are also now in the collection of the Stadsmus, but they are more a contemporary caricature of witches.

HEKSENBERG
Outside the city centre there is the Heksenberg, which is now a garden, where also there is the myth that witches used to gather there. Up until the 1900s people were still superstitious enough to avoid this place.
http://www.heksenberg.be/heksenberg/
The reference to these stories is Alfons Jeurissen book ‘Heksendans’ who wrote a lot about folklore in the area.
However the book is not in the big library behind Z33 but in the smaller library of Kuringen and there it is also in the archives.
http://zoeken.hasselt.bibliotheek.be/detail/Alfons-Jeurissen/Heksendans/Boek/?c_showfullavail=true&itemid=%7Clibrary%2Fv%2Flimburg%7C610084
Then a historical page mentions all the records of witches burnings in the area and the places where they were executed but here is no mention of Hasselt.
https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heksenlijst_Belgisch_Limburg
Also interesting to know that in the region the witches were very heavily associated with cats, so many street names that refer to Kat, kattenberg, etcetera also are some far reference to this. Also dogs. But this is of course a common shapeshifting idea related to witches.
