Relation between two systems

Abstraction meets/relates to a physical object in transformation
It seems that these relations (between abstract and physical objects) are the privilege of humans. Is the capacity to abstract really only for humans?
Do you need a receptor ? Other receptors? An abstract receptor?
What would be a receptor that is being changed by its observations?
Can we think of other ways to relate abstractions to material world, than through human perspective.
